mastaTEX Orange for Asbestos Remediation Project

Our civil engineering customer is working on a project in Wentworthville in Sydney’s West.

With asbestos contamination present in the area, an orange geotextile warning layer was necessary to help avoid penetration by future excavation projects.

The contractor needed a reliable supply of geosynthetics, including both a warning layer and a solution that could be used in a similar way to a protective drop sheet. This would assist with quarantining and moving contaminated material away from the work zone, to the adjacent sealed pavement and road areas.

This shifting process was necessary so that workers could continue to work on removing contaminated fill behind the kerb area, without the risk of further contamination.

Additionally, geofabric was used to assist with sediment control, ensuring that any runoff from the site would not enter the nearby stormwater network.

The GEOmasta team supplied the contractor with mastaTEX Nonwoven geotextile, in both standard white and high visibility orange.

The immediately recognisable orange geotextile was used as a warning layer in between contaminated fill and the capping layer, to help avoid future penetrations whilst excavating.

The white mastaTEX Nonwoven geofabric was utilized as a base material to cover and protect surrounding areas during the course of the project.

mastaTEX Nonwoven

mastaTEX Non Woven is a continuous filament geotextile made from highly durable polyester fibres, which are resistant to all naturally occurring soil acids and alkalis. The textile is formed through needle punching in order to produce a product suitable for use in road & rail work, separation, drainage, protection and filtration works.

mastaTEX Orange

mastaTEX Orange is a high-quality staple fibre orange geotextile, designed for separating contaminated and non-contaminated soils. Due to its bright hi-visibility orange colouring, mastaTEX Orange is most commonly used as a warning layer in areas which are liable to future excavations, as it is easily located when digging and excavating.
